Dr. Rajendra Gawai along with RPI workers attacked CM's residence at Nagpur. There the CM had come for winter session. The demand of RPI was to allot 12.5 acres of land for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial at Dadar Chaityabhoomi. Several workers were arrested and then released. CM Pritiviraj Chavan later met some of the protestors and assured allotment of land for above purpose.
After the arrest five representatives were called for the discussion with Chief Minister. Hence five persons namely Dr. Rajendra Gawai National General Secretary RPI, Shri Subodhji Waghmode President Mahararshtra Pradesh RPI, Shri Rameshwar Abhyankar General Secretary Maharashtra RPI, Shri Bhausaheb Danghare President Amravati District RPI, Shri Bhushan Bansod President Amravati City RPI, Shri Gokul Pande President Wardha District RPI. The delegation urged for all party delegation to the Prime Minister of the India for the above issue.
Till March 2012 there was no progress on allotment of Indu Mill land. So on 5th of a meeting was called by Dr. Rajendra Gawai and it was decided to take control of CM's residence on 30th March. However on 29th night Chief Minister Mr. Prithviraj Chavan met the Prime Minister and convyed PM's message to Dr. Rajendra Gawai regarding the allotment of the land. Instead a taking control of CM's bunglow a "Morcha" was initiate at Azad maidan on 30th March. Advocate Avinash Salve and Mrs. Latatai Ohad were also present to support the agitation.
